The former post office, closed for business, in the Mojave Desert ghost town of Kelso, California. Kelso had as many as 2000 residents during the 1940s when borax and iron mines opened nearby and gold and silver was also found in the area. Kelso lies within the Mojave National Preserve and the Visitor Center is housed in the former railroad depot at Kelso.
